Climbing Club

The Climbing Club is a 10 week-program designed to get kids going further in the sport of indoor rock climbing.

 

The pre-requisite for this course is one of Treefrogs Level I, Treefrogs Level II or the Getting Into It Course (for participants 14 yrs and up). Building on the skills learned in those programs, participants will learn the principles and skills involved in the most advanced type of climbing we have at VIRG, Lead Climbing. The second focus of this program is improving climbing technique through instruction by, and practice under the watchful eyes of our expert instructors. And thirdly, the Climbing Club gives youth an opportunity to stay active both physically and mentally through lots of on-the-wall climbing time!

  • a total of 30 hours of instruction
  • 10 weeks of learning and fun!

Cost:
$265 + GST which includes all required equipment and ten 3- hour sessions.
            *Minimum of 6 participants to run program.

Times:
Fall, Winter and Spring Session times
 
Sunday from 9am - 12:00 noon

Ages:
For Kids ages 10 years and up.  All kids must have a waiver signed by one of their own parents or legal guardian.

Pre-requisite:
Participants must have completed the Treefrogs Semester Program, Treefrogger Summer Camp and preferably Treefrogs II Semester Program.  For youth 14 years and older, the pre-requisite is the Getting Into It Course.

Clothing:
Participants are suggested to wear comfortable clothing that they can move around in.  Layers are also a great idea.  Everyone must wear socks in the rental shoes.

Note: The Climbing Club program is a certification preparation program.  Those participants who are ready will be able to complete a Lead Check allowing climbers to Lead Climb outside of the program.
