Ready to lead your way out of the mundane? Lead climbing provides a totally new level of experience allowing climbers to access new terrain and gain a new level of freedom.

The Taking the Lead course opens a new level to the climbing for the comfortable top-rope climber. This program focuses on the essential skills to lead climb and lead belay in an indoor setting. Climbing skills covered include clipping the rope, climber positioning and controlled falling. For belaying, participants will learn special belaying techniques for leading, quick management of slack for the lead system, proper belayer positioning and how to catch falls securely.

With the Taking the Lead you get:
• 2 2½ hour sessions: 5 hours of instruction
• Use of rental equipment
• A free Lead Check
Cost:
$95 + GST VIRG requires 2 participants to run this program.

Times:
The Taking the Lead course runs the first Monday & Tuesday of every month from 7 – 9:30 pm.

Ages:
Participants 14 years and older can register in the Taking the Lead course. All participants must have a waiver signed. For those under 18 years of age, they must have a waiver signed by one of their parents or legal guardian.

Pre-requisite:
Participants must be comfortable Top Rope climbers with a Top Rope Belay Check at Vertically Inclined. A climbing level around 5.10 is strongly suggested.
