The Getting Into It is your introduction to the exciting sport of indoor climbing This 3-hour program is for new climbers ages 14 and up (ages 12-13 are welcome with a climber over 14 years of age in the program with them). It presents all the information necessary to get you started in the sport of indoor rock climbing! The course introduces new climbers to the facility and teaches the skills involved in the Top Rope systems including belaying (controlling the rope at the bottom for the climber), the figure eight follow through knot (used to secure the climber while they climb) and all the appropriate safety checks.  And there's lots of climbing time to help solidify those skills!  This is a certification preparation course that teaches the skills to complete a Belay Check at Vertically Inclined. For those primarily looking to try it out and experience climbing, check out our Introductory Climbing Course or the Drop-in Climbing Adventure both of which cover the basic rope skills and do not certify climbers for future visits (climbers must go through the training each time they come in). This program is designed to get you on the wall and climbing!  We’ll cover the basics of managing the ropes and then provide lots of coaching and technique tips as you climb.  This is the perfect option for people looking to experience what climbing’s all about. Three-hour sessions include all required equipment and a discount return card. Runs on selected Friday evenings in June (moving to Thursday evenings for July & August) and Saturday mornings. Note:  This program focuses on experiencing the basics of indoor climbing.  Check out the Getting Into It Climbing Fundamentals Course option for further instruction on the rope work needed to pass a Belay Check in the gym and to take advantage of the many punch and multi-visit pass options.
