Rip & Grip Boulder Competition Fall Events for 2025 These comp events will feature brand new problems and climbing for all ability levels. The Getting Into It is your introduction to the exciting sport of indoor climbing This 3-hour program is for new climbers ages 14 and up (ages 12-13 are welcome with a climber over 14 years of age in the program with them). It presents all the information necessary to get you started in the sport of indoor rock climbing! The course introduces new climbers to the facility and teaches the skills involved in the Top Rope systems including belaying (controlling the rope at the bottom for the climber), the figure eight follow through knot (used to secure the climber while they climb) and all the appropriate safety checks. And there's lots of climbing time to help solidify those skills! This is a certification preparation course that teaches the skills to complete a Belay Check at Vertically Inclined. For those primarily looking to try it out and experience climbing, check out our Introductory Climbing Course or the Drop-in Climbing Adventure both of which cover the basic rope skills and do not certify climbers for future visits (climbers must go through the training each time they come in). For customers with a voucher for this program, please use the total number of participants as the quantity when registering for this class. This program is designed to get you on the wall and climbing! We’ll cover the basics of managing the ropes and then provide lots of coaching and technique tips as you climb. This is the perfect option for people looking to experience what climbing’s all about. Three-hour sessions include all required equipment and a discount return card. Runs on selected Friday evenings in June (moving to Thursday evenings for July & August) and Saturday mornings. Note: This program focuses on experiencing the basics of indoor climbing. Check out the Getting Into It Climbing Fundamentals Course option for further instruction on the rope work needed to pass a Belay Check in the gym and to take advantage of the many punch and multi-visit pass options. -
The Tadpole Semester Program is a 10-week course, which gets your young ones involved in climbing in a controlled environment. They’re probably climbing your bookcases, curtains and trees as it is, so why not let them explore their natural abilities with one of Vertically Inclined Rock Gym’s expert instructors? The Tadpole course runs 1.5 hours every week during which time the Tadpoles learn the basics about climbing equipment, how to tie a climbing knot and all the climbing safety checks. Also, there will be climbing related games and activities - but the majority of the time will be dedicated to climbing all over the walls! View registration and program cancellation policies here -
Tadpoles Plus is for 5-9 year olds who have completed Tadpoles and who want to continue climbing and improving their skills.
